Parks Plan Update: Initial Survey Results & September Public Meeting

This summer, Aldan began the process of developing a new, community-driven Parks & Recreation Master Plan. The project is being led by the Borough in partnership with Omnes, a landscape architecture & planning studio known for bringing the voices and visions of communities to fruition.
The planning process began with an initial public survey seeking residents’ feedback about the state of parks and recreation in Aldan. The Survey was available for four weeks in June/July 2023 at the Borough’s website, as well as at the Aldan July 4th Celebration alongside a pop-up “dot-voting” station where residents weighed in about priorities for each Borough park.
The full results of the Survey and July 4th “dot-voting” are now available at this link, and Omnes has begun developing concepts for park and open space improvements based on this community feedback.
They will present initial ideas at a Public Meeting on Monday, September 18th at 7:30pm at the McBlain Community Center in Hopely Athletic Complex. You can also join the meeting online via Zoom at the same time at this link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/87888768430.
A second project survey will be available on the Borough’s website after the Public Meeting to give residents the opportunity to weigh in on draft concepts and improvement ideas developed by Omnes. Your feedback is essential in creating a community-driven plan, with the voices of all informing strategies for parks and public space.
Make your voice heard by joining the Public Meeting on September 18th, and by taking the upcoming survey! You can also share your ideas directly with the planning team by emailing: info@omnes.studio.
